Arts Funding Northern Ireland

This year I applied for funding from the Arts Council as an individual artist as the editor of A New Ulster and a poet with my own voice there are certain truths I’ve learn’t. First there is no money in poetry 🙂 but that’snot why I write and there is no money in ANU either once again though I produce it because I know how hard it can be to get published sometimes and when I started the magazine in 2012 there weren’t many options in Northern Ireland.

Well the ACNI suffered massive cuts to its core funding so small bodies like ANU and individual artists mostly lose out which is a shame. I’ll not lie I struggle sometimes with the financial side of things my backs done in from the L6 to the L3 region so that makes life difficult at times. I’ll keep on producing ANU and my own work.

Here’s the link to the latest issuehttp://issuu.com/amosgreig/docs/anu_issue_38

I hope you enjoy reading it I’m also working on a Peace Anthology due out soon and a Valentines special for February and all of this with no funding.

Welcome to The Launchpad.

thelaunchpadeditor's avatarthelaunchpadjournal

We are a new literary online journal edited by children’s writers based in NI. We have decided it is time that we showcased the talent of new and emerging children’s writers with an Irish/ Northern Irish interest. Having been inspired by the great journal showcasing writing for grown ups, The Incubator, we hope to have launches of each issue where the contributors will be invited to read their work.

We are sorry to say we don’t have the money to pay people for their submissions, but we would like to assure you that if your work is published in The Launchpad, you will retain copyright for your submission and we will retain a sense of honour that you added your voice to our journal.

We hope that we can help create a network of writers and illustrators for children as we meet at launches and become a little literary community. We hope to be…

And all the slammers who took part. That’s it from another Poetry&Words at Glastonbury and it’s been an absolute pleasure following in the footsteps of the likes of Deanna Rodger, Hollie McNish and Annie Mcgann as the poetry stage blogger. It’s been a absolute pleasure. Huge thanks to Helen and the team and all the genuinely brilliant poets who’ve graced the stage this year.

This is Scott Tyrrell, signing off 🙂
